Tasting Tips

"Those who know how to taste no longer drink wine but savor secrets."
Salvador Dali

Aged for several years in the cellar, Champagne Météyer is ready to be enjoyed right after purchase.

💡 Did you know?
- The younger and livelier the Champagne, the colder it should be served. More mature Champagne can be served at 10°C.
- A coupe is not the ideal glass due to its flared edges, which cause aromas to dissipate too quickly.

- The finesse of the glass enhances the tasting sensations.
- Excessive cold can disrupt the perception of aromas and flavors.
- Residues from cleaning products on your glasses can "dull" the Champagne's bubbles.

Discover our tips and suggestions for storing and serving champagne optimally to reveal all its richness and flavors!

📝 Suggestions for Optimal Tasting:
- Chill your bottle by placing it in a bucket filled with water and ice for 30 minutes, or store it in the lower section of the fridge for 4 hours.
- Remove the foil, loosen the wire cage while keeping the cork in place, then tilt the bottle at a 45° angle, holding it by the bottom and gently removing the cork.
- Taste chilled but not frozen, at a temperature of 8 to 10°C.
- Serve champagne in a flute or wine glass.
- Fill the glass only halfway to allow room to smell the wine.
- Rinse glasses with warm water (no detergent), let them air dry, and store them upright, away from dust.

📝 Recommendations for Optimal Storage:
- Store the bottle horizontally.
- Keep it away from light.
- Let it rest for a few days before tasting.

Champagne can be stored for 2 to 3 years if certain storage conditions are met:
- Horizontal storage to maintain cork elasticity.
- Ideal cellar temperature between 10 and 14°C.
- Darkness is crucial to prevent "lightstruck" flavor.
- Cleanliness.
- Proper humidity (around 80%).
- Ventilation.
- No vibrations.

In the absence of a cellar, champagne can be stored in a refrigerated cabinet or, if necessary, in a cool, sheltered place, in its original packaging.
